During my days as an obsessive remix collector, Peter Rauhofer was an absolute A-lister. He occupied prime space in my speakers alongside productions from Junior Vasquez, Tony Moran and David Morales. (Ah, the glory days.) Rauhofer’s signature hard-hitting house anthems were a big part of my life for what seemed like a long time. That’s why his passing, at just 48-years old from brain cancer, came as a shock.
“I don’t want to relax. I get bored in a minute,” told me in a 2006 interview. I don’t see it as work. I’m doing things that I enjoy. I wouldn’t even want to have people working for me because I want to do everything. I can’t imagine having nothing to do. It’s weird, but I need it.”
